Liverpool was the city that hosted MTV Europe Music Awards 2008. The entire show was swept by Obama-mania.

Big names were present at the MTV EMAs and even bigger names performed on the stage. Beyonce, Pink and other big names from the musical industry performed live.

Singer Katy Perry hosted the show and she made her appearance wearing a dress emblazoned with Obama’s face. The co-host of the show was Jared Leto who wore an Obama T-shirt.

Beside Obama-mania, Beatlemania energized Beatle’s hometown, Liverpool. Sir Paul McCartney received an ‘ultimate legend’ award from U2 singer Bono.

One of the winners of this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards was Britney Spears who won best act award and best album of 2008.

Pink’s song ‘So what’ was named most addictive track and Tokio Hotel were named headliners of the year. The trophy for best video was won by 30 Seconds to Mars and the band also received the “rock out” award. The host Katy Perry got the award for new best act.

The band which had most success with the Liverpool public was Take That who received endless applause.

MTV Europe Music Awards turned the city of Liverpool into a European Capital of Culture for 2008.
